K-9 POSSE - K-9 POSSE

1988 Arista

1 This Beat Is Military
2 Ain't Nothin To It
3 Somebody's Brother
4 It Gets No Deeper
5 No Stoppin Or Standin Between The Rhyme
6 Tough Cookie
7 Say Who Say What
8 This Is The Way The Quick Cut Goes
9 No Sell Out
10 Turn That Down

K-9 Posse was created just like one of the boys bands: Vernon Lynch and Charlie Murphy (Eddie's younger bro) were hooked up by the label to make an ambitious rap act. Their first album wasn't a great hit, the beats are nice and groovy, but the MCs fell apart a bit, especially when it comes to the lyrics. So generally it is regular album from the golden era, with some nice songs, but it's not outstanding. A lil forgotten crew, but worth remindin'.

Underground Rap-A-Lot mafia grew in the '90s much and it's incredible how many good rap soldiers Houston has. Too Much Trouble, consisting of Drunk D, Bar-None, Nickle Nut and Ghetto MC, released three records before they got disbanded and that is their latest release. It was found as a weak album by rap audience, but it ain't bad. Produced by Freddie Young, John Bido, Marlon Bemnby, Swift and Tim Walker is in R-A-L Mafia mode, even if the producers are rather from the second row. Lyrically there are pimps, hustals and bitchez all the time, so if u like Texas shit, buy that now.

10. Ostatnia W Nocy
11. Tak Już Jest
12. Z Serca
13. Panta Rhei (RMX Doniu)
14. Jestem Tu feat. ASCETOHOLIX

That was the official debut from this MC from Poznań. After his first underground album he became known across the country and in his city the album was claimed to be classic. So "Rapnastyk" is Owal's first official and it was produced by Tabb and Doniu, the most popular mainstream producers from that part of Poland so the album is full of melodic beats and nice hooks. What makes this album harder are really good scratches by DJ Decks and DJ Kostek, top of Polish DJs. Owal has got good lyrics and flow, so the album is nice... sometimes too nice. Whatever, the album is considered as a classic, but I say it's too soft and mainstream. Check if u like it.

People went crazy over that crew, so the album got triple platinum just in the USA. Funk beats by DJ Muggs found many followers in groups like Funkdoobiest, Whooliganz or House Of Pain, but also in Europe there were many groups similar to their style. Nasal vocal from B-Real is recognised all over the world. So check that if u don't know coz it's a damn classic.

1995 Relativity

1 Intro
2 DJ Battle 1:25
3 What You Expected feat. GANGSTARR
4 Kill The Noize feat. PROBLEMZ
5 Dat's My Word feat. REDMAN
6 Straight Talk From NY feat. GRAND PUBA, SADAT X, WAKEEM
7 Intro
8 Out For The Cash feat. AL' TARIQ, THE BEATNUTS, FAT JOE, PROBLEMZ
9 Interlude feat. COMMON
10 Biz Freestyle feat. BIZ MARKIE
11 Fuk Dat feat. SEAN BLACK
12 International Anthem feat. THA ALKAHOLIKS
13 The End feat. AL' TARIQ

DJ Honda came out of nowhere with his first official LP equipped with a bunch of excellent NY MCs. Then I've heard that he was Japanese turntable champion and saw the video to 'Out for the cash'. I said damn! He's really Japanese! Talking o him while he was in Warsaw I got to know that he hardly speaks English! Well. It showed that the album is really great, Honda makes good music, similar to EastCoast beats, but it's easy to recognize, that there's something behind the curtains. He invited some guests that I don't have to introduce. The whole thing is banging and as a dessert we have some great scratchin', not only from Honda, but also DJ Premier. Great album.

22. At Large With A-Cyde
23. No Escape

The second album from Lewis Parker is the shit. This London based MC with Barbadian roots was a big hope for British hip hop. No wonder, Lewis got some skills and along with good and rooty beats it makes a delicious record. He doesn't sound British, his accent isn't so remarkable, maybe that's why he has been invited to some of american productions... Parker's music with Parker's flow sounds almost perfect, so the album is excellent for yo head to bob. Check it, coz it's worth.
